CSL Seqirus - Flu Shot Education Campaign
HCPs, primarily pediatricians, have little if any understanding of the way flu shots are made. In fact, most feel they’re all the same. But the traditional way most influenza vaccines have been produced for decades–growing flu viruses inside chicken eggs–requires the human viruses to mutate in order to grow inside their avian environment. These mutations are called egg adaptation, and they can lead to a form of strain mismatch where the resulting vaccines don’t match the flu strains they’re supposed to protect us from.
Our unbranded campaign used teaser videos, email, and social media to drive clinicians to an educational landing page where they could learn more about the issues posed by egg adaptation in traditional cell-based flu vaccines. The campaign also conditioned them to be open to a flu vaccine option that uses viruses grown in cells, thereby avoiding egg adaptation. The initial launch generated nearly 10,000 site visits with 25% on site engagement and over 1,200 click-throughs to CSL Seqirus's cell-based flu shot's branded site.
